Itchy raw feeling all day long
The itch never really stops. It is there when you wake up, and still there at bedtime. The skin around the vaginal opening can feel raw, like a scrape or a chafe.
Thin, dry tissue is a common reason for this. When the lining makes less moisture, it gets fragile. Then walking, sitting, or tight jeans can rub and sting all day.
Low estrogen is the usual cause of that dryness. It can come with menopause, with breastfeeding, or with some types of birth control. Soaps, scented wipes, and washes can add to the raw feeling.
When to see someone
See a doctor or nurse if you have sores, blisters, or bleeding you cannot explain. Get checked for discharge that smells bad, white or thick patches of skin, or a raw spot that will not heal. Go soon if the itch has lasted weeks, or if it wakes you at night.
Below is a list of home and folk remedies linked to vaginal dryness. Each one carries a grade that shows how much study backs it, not a promise about your itch. Read the grades first, and talk with your doctor before you try anything new.
